The 2014 VVA National Leadership & Education Conference
This year's PROJECT FRIENDSHIP recipient was the "Shalom Home", located in Wichita, KS. Over $7300.00 was donated to this charity from AVVA and it's members.
"A Faith based 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing affordable short term residential homes and support services for homeless Veterans located in Wichita, KS."
AVVA DONATES FUNDS TO FISHER HOUSE:
On April 9, 2014, Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America visited and toured the Fisher House Facility at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. While there, AVVA National presented the Fisher House Facility with a check for $3000, donated to help further their activities. The Fisher House gives the caretakers or family members a place to stay to be close to their Veteran while he or she is receiving serious medical care from the VA Medical Center next door. This aids the Veteran so that they can have someone close by when needed, without the added stress that being away from home would otherwise create.
